Video Post || 002 || A Request for Help

[the_head_librarian]

Forgive me, everyone, it is time to call upon you for aid.

[The Librarian looks tired, his eyes darker and not truly focusing on anything in particular. His brow furrows as he bows his head in silent apology to add to his greeting.]

The commotion from our storybook friends has caused doors to be opened and not be closed as tightly as they should. After tasting a bit of freedom to roam, the curiosity is not sated. Now… it seems a few of these characters have escaped from their books and slipped through the cracks into other worlds they do not belong in.

[Turning his head, he taps the side of the screen and visual images of the creatures from Wonderland pop up on the screen next to the image of Wiltshire, England.] It seems that the citizens of Wonderland have made their way into the country of England and where many stories of these creatures have certainly been around for many centuries, the reality of their existence is not so easy to explain.

[The picture changes and images of beautiful silver white horses with horns slide across the screen before another image of the town of Tombstone comes into focus beside it.] Unicorns are a mythical creature that only exist in some worlds, in stories for others… and not at all for some. They are magical creatures, very intelligent… but they should not be in this historical town. I fear that the people are not ready for such a thing and both the people and the animals are in danger of each other.

[The pictures disappear and another comes up of various animals that look like drawn pictures flick across the screen. Soon the images of Yellowstone National park flick up and tile beside it.] There is a children’s story, some may be familiar with… of animals going through life and the trials of growing up. However the trials of the story are not the same as those in reality. They are not for this place and need to go back to their home. After all, a deer, rabbit and skunk are not commonly seen together, nor are they seen talking.

[All the pictures clear as he returns to the video feed.] This is no easy task I ask of you, but these fictional creatures need to be brought back. And more important, they cannot be seen by the inhabitants of the worlds they are entering. I have been masking their presence… the Wonderland creatures are no more than teenagers having a party in an ill chosen spot… The unicorns appear as no more than horses to the people of Tombstone… and the animals from the children’s story look to be real and not as you see them in the picture.

Doing this… takes a great deal of energy and I will not be able to help you further. However, I have sent information to each of you as you will be split into teams and sent through the doors. The Non-Fiction Librarian will guide you. He will lead you through the worlds in his care as best he can. Use your bookmarks to look up information. I have sent the list of teams to each of you…. Please proceed to the doors, prepare yourself…

[The Librarian frowns, his expression almost sad.] Please be safe. There are things that can and will hurt you if you are not careful. I will do all I can from here to keep you safe.

[Texts pop up on the different bookmark feeds with a list of teams as well as the locations that they will find the doors.]

And... you as well... [She said as she squinted to the video, as if maybe she knew the face but she wasn't going to assume! She did that same 'pause' as she did with someone else just a moment before. The kind that left room for the other to offer a name.]

I can't say I know the place like the back of my hand, but I've been there before, so it shouldn't be too complex. As for Madness, they can get a bit crazy in the books. I wonder if that translates over into reality...

Elladan Elrondion, at your service! [ He grins at her and pulls back from the feed enough to give her a flourishing bow ]

That is better than never having been there before! And I fear I do not know this story, and so cannot comment - so in that again you have me at an advantage!

[As he waits for an answer, Steve tells himself not to be disappointed if Bucky doesn't answer. This is more than he expected and...

Thankfully, Bucky can't see him since Steve's grin would probably cause him to shut off the bookmark.]

And dressing like a flag with a bulls-eye on my back is a good idea?

[The comment about black causes him to pause, wondering if Bucky really did remember something or if he meant something else.]

I don't think it's as easy as black and white like it was when we were kids playing cowboys.

[You have to excuse her sudden ALL STOP as he says his name. She stares a moment, then a grin breaks out, a bit lopsided at first, as if she can't believe it. The American Author? No way.]

[But then her smile turns a bit sly. It's not the first time she has met someone amazingly historical before. And she won't spoil it by saying she knows him. At least not right now. Instead she bowed her head in a greeting.] A pleasure to meet you, Mister Lovecraft. [OMG she can't believe she just said that out loud. Coool.]

A challenge is just a new adventure or puzzle that needs to be solved. Had my friend come here as well he would be really interested in this. In his absence I will just have to be the lively witty one. [It's a joke. She likes to think she is always the lively and witty one, at least now she does.]

[Funny how he calls it a travelling companion. It just makes her miss the Doctor for a moment more.]

England is brilliant. As many places I have gone and sights I have seen, nothing compares to home. As for Mad Creatures, think... crazy. Oh! Eccentric. That might be a better word for them. Oh, wait... Do you know the story, Mister Lovecraft? [after all, it came out before he was born, so maybe he would understand]

[With a smile in return she tries and gives a less flashy bow in return. You are a very pretty person/race.]

I suppose you have a point, Mister Elrondion. [Name... you sound like Elron, from a book. Haha. Cool] This might sound a bit strange if I am wrong but, what planet are you from?

As for the story, it's rather interesting. It's about a young girl who falls into a rabbit hole and slips into a wonder land. Nothing tends to be what it seems to be. The characters are all a bit eccentric, which might be a problem in any age of England.

If they can talk they could be convinced, but I'll...tell people how to set no-kill snares just in case.

[He can do this. A mission, a real mission. His eyebrow raises]

IT did make you an easy target to find. [He said with out thinking. For a moment there was the slightest tone of the old Bucky, and if he had smiled at ALL while saying it, it would have been him. But after the comment was said, the Asset shut that thought down again.]

[He scowled to himself. He doesn't want to be friendly with his failed mission and former target. Supposed child hood friend. Memories or not, it was confusing. He didn't want to get into this.]

I know better than to think it will actually be like a childs game. [he's saying more lately though. That's a plus.]

...No guns on animals.

[If he sees one he'll punch someone in the face. There's a vague look and he's thinking of Buddy.]

...If we grab one, he could be persuaded by us to bring the others home.

Elladan, please! [ He corrects her with a smile ] Planet? I'm not familiar with that word, forgive me. Well, we call the world Arda, and I am from those lands we know as Middle-earth, if that helps?

A truly strange story, to match a strange problem, I suppose. [ He hums curiously ] Which means we will, I suppose, not know what to expect beyond eccentricity?

This is possible... But take into consideration that they are shy of humans. Convincing them is plausible, but they may run at first.

[He has to smile just a little at that.]

You would be surprised the things you will cross paths with while being a patron here.

[the_head_librarian]

[He pauses, considering this before answering.]

I will. I have no intentions of disappearing any time soon. I promise.

[the_head_librarian]

I can agree with this. [He smiles just a little and nods to her.] I am sure this will not be so strange to you at all and you will be quite in your element.

I am very certain you will be a great help indeed.

Elrohir. [He supplies politely, knowing at least that social cue from all of his time being raised as a son of Elvish nobility. Though... he often forgets to introduce first it seems. Most just knew who he was. That was not the case here.]

Unbalanced. This should be quite interesting then. Maybe even slightly entertaining.

[Stopping, he tips his head in confusion.] Is there something wrong with this Queen of Hearts?

[He might glance away modestly, a hint of pink crossing his cheekbones, though a small smile might show in the corners of his mouth.]

You seem to have wit enough for two; your absent friend is a fortunate person to be graced with your companionship. Perhaps, in time, he shall find his way here.

I admit, Wonderland was among the first phantastical realms that I discovered as a lad. I used to look for the White Rabbit in our hedge rows, though of course, the only place he scurried with his pocket-watch in hand was through my fancy. But this time, it would seem that the fancy has become the factual and we must needs guide them back to their book.

[Not quite since the strange bookmark projected images somehow but they would be traveling together so it seemed the right thing to say.]

Maybe I wanted to be found. [Steve notices the change in tone but doesn't act like anything had changed. In a way it hadn't. It was similar to the way they had teased each other in the past.] Someone used to say that I liked getting punched.

[Maybe Bucky would remember or at least think of him as a mission. He knew that Bucky might never recover his memories but that didn't mean that Steve wouldn't try to build some kind of friendship with him if he could.]

Probably not but things never were easy for me when I was a kid so it might be the same.

[He was about to greet the other, but the blunt words caused him to suddenly laugh. The sound is no more energetic than he himself.]

I have no choice. If I don't hold up the illusion... what I will have to do will do far more damage to me than this.

[He gives him a quiet smile.] I'm sorry I will not be much help this time.

[He smiles vaguely.] I'm sure Mr. Bane will be pleased... don't let him get carried away, please.

I'll be careful not to use the more powerful runes. [The only one that he could think of being a problem were the ones that Clary created. He doubted he'd really need Fearless or Alliance while hunting talking rabbits.]

He will be. I'll keep an eye on him. Is there anything we can do to help you maintain the illusions?

[She had to wonder a bit, on just how much the Librarians would know about her, her past and her futures or what not. He seemed to understand though and she wouldn't question it right now. They would talk about it all later no doubt.]

My thought is, if I'm going to be here, I might as well be helpful.
