[Chapter 1 - "I Couldn't Live a Week Without a Library"]
[The bookmark flickers to life, showing a short, slender man in a brown suit jacket of a somewhat outdated style, settled down in an upholstered chair in a corner of one reading room, his head leaning back on one of the wings, his grey fedora tilted over his face. He might stir, turning toward the device and tilting his hat back, revealing his lean, lantern-jawed face.]
Ha... I must have dozed off, the completion of the search that endured for thirty years must have taken more out of me than I thought. [And then he looks around him, blinking in surprise and disorientation.] Wait now... this isn't my lodgings, and it isn't the library of the Omnyati Brotherhood, either. Where is this place and how did I come here? [Baffled and a bit suspicious now...]

Video
[Certainly not modern, especially when noting the mode of dress. Not that Magnus minds... he is over 400. He's been there and done that so to speak.]
Omnyati Brotherhood? [That on the other hand, earns a perplexed look.] No, that name is not really familiar... but you're in The Central Library. Or so the Librarians call it.
Re: Video
Where is that voice coming from... Ahh.. [His gaze lands on the bookmark, and he leans in to pick it up, where it's resting on a table at his elbow. He'll study it, intrigued.] I take this is... something like a telephone, only with a visual capture?
It comes as no surprise that you've not heard of them: they are a secretive sect who remain out of sight, guarding strange relics and eldritch tomes.
The Central Library... dare I ask, to what it is central?
Re: Video
You could say that. Though it's rather beyond even anything I have seen before. It is quite literally beyond reason.
[Angling his head at the comment about a secretive sect, he wanted to laugh. But he was old enough to know better.]
There really are a lot of those in every world, it seems. Shadow hunters tend to horde all the good stuff where I'm from.
And yes. The Central Library... as for what it is central to, I am not sure. Though, I could venture a few guesses.
Re: Video
In that case, it sounds as though we have passed beyond and out of any known realm, into another beyond and behind reality as anyone might know it?
Shadow hunters... might that be the name of a sect of keepers of dark lore? [Clearly intrigued by the notion.]
Re: Video
[His smile was nearly feline, showing his eyes for that same cat-like quality as he grins up at the other.]
Half angels. Nephilim. The warriors that stand between the powers of hell and the rest of the normal world. Very elitist group, but they take their world serious. [His expression softens a little at that.] Not all are so insufferable...
Re: Video
Half... excuse me, did you say 'angels'? I admit, I'm skeptical as to such beings, except, perhaps, in their more formidable manifestations. And these Shadow Hunters are their scions?
Re: Video
Not so much in that traditional, had children way. That is too.. unclean for them likely. More the blood of an angel was given to them in exchange for their services as the supernatural police. Mind you, I am under valuing their work as one of those policed supernatural forces.
[Magnus shrugged a little at that.] You are right however. Angels are very formidable. And none too kind to my own race.
Re: Video
Ahhh, something in the manner of the transference of vampirism, in some tales, I take it?
And so I take it that you are of a questionable species, as as far as commonplace codes of morality are concerned?
Re: Video
[Though, Magnus is grinning a little at the mere thought of them being angelic vampires. Yes. This cracks him up a little bit even if Alec is a hunter.]
I am a warlock. And no... we are quite 'unholy' so to speak. Think the opposite of a Shadowhunter but with the copulation aspect. [He was sure if his father could hear him now... he'd be snickering in delight. He really disliked the demon.]
Re: Video
[He might chaff a little.] There is little that is holy nor unholy as I see it: I am an atheist and a materialist, nor do I consider the lines of morals to be as set in stone as people would believe them to be.
