First Page

[Ward isn't making himself known without good reason. His device is on and there's a grim sort of looking man. He's been sticking close to Kara and thinking about what Tony said. He's got a book under his hands and he sits.]

So we're in a library. I was wondering. What's your favorite book?

I found a couple of mine. You know, when I was a kid. [He nods at them] Treasure island for one. Jim Hawkins was always kind of my hero when I was a kid.

[He reaches for another] I've got 100 years of solitude too. And the Giver.

I'd really like to read them but I don't want to open them and accidentally unleash Long John Silver or anything like that. Is there...a way to turn them off?

[Because she is around anyhow, Kara has a few books in her hands as well, and taking a break from her work and clean up and exploring, she comes in to sit beside the man, leaning in as if to tuck herself into his side.]

Mmm, that's a good question. I hadn't really thought about it before.

[She said in a whisper tone, as she knows he's on his bookmark. She smiled though, her scarred face pulling a bit as she did.] I'd hate to have a flying monkey come out of my favorite book.

[She turned to look up at him and smile as he mentioned his Gramsy.] I'm sure it should be fine to read them. And if something gets out, we can chase it down and put it back again. It would be a shame to have a world of books at our finger tips and be unable to read them.

[She stared at him with that smile. Why was he so perfect. Then she ducked her head and shrugged a single shoulder, looking down to the books now in her lap.] It's the first book mom read to me. And I loved the movie as a kid.

[She chuckled at that comment.] No one was prettier than Judy Garland.

[but as he took her hand and talked about if she would leave or not she raised a brow.] I never wanted to leave in the first place. [But she did. But she came here so...] And I wouldn't even want to think about it now.

[What was he getting at? What did other couples do? Her eyes watched his as he talked]

[He said the M word, and that made her freeze for a moment, looking at him in mild confusion. She used to dream about weddings, before she became an Agent so long ago. With Ward, she never even thought about it, just happy to live with him is all.]

[There was a odd sort of soft smile on her lips now, looking at him a bit amazed.]

You. Talked to Tony Stark. About commitment and marriage? [Do you know how odd that sounds? She doesn't even know Stark other than news, tabloid news and SHIELD/HYDRA files...]
facemyenemys: (Scar 1)

[personal profile] facemyenemys 2015-08-06 06:31 am (UTC)(link)
[Stark and Captain America huh. That's a weird twist. She was glad no one ELSE was here though. So glad. God...]

[but he was talking about weddings and his gramsy and pop and nice memories and celebrating them and.... she looked surprised still. She didn't comment on all that yet. Instead she shifted, turning a bit where she sat, and letting him keep her hand she looked up at him with her head tilted and an unsure look on her ace]

Wait, are you possibly proposing to me right now? I mean, if that something you are considering?
facemyenemys: (Kara 8)

[personal profile] facemyenemys 2015-08-06 06:54 am (UTC)(link)
[She chuckled softly and curled her fingers around his hand as he played with it.] I don't need a ring, you know. [she tried to assure him softly. She was an Agent. She's used to the no ring thing. IT was safer. Though she wouldn't say no to one. Not anymore.]

[As he said it though. Will she marry him, she beamed, pulling herself up closer to him, books tumbling out of her lap as she pulled her hands free only to fling them around his neck. She embraced him tightly in a hug, kissing the side of his face, his cheek, and grinning as she pressed another hard kiss to his jaw]

Yes! [Simple as that. yes. Yes she would marry him. It might just be in this place, and it might only last as long as he was here, but it was good enough to her. Even if it never happened, she was happy at this point in time.] Some day, what ever day that might be. It doesn't matter to me. But yes, I will marry you, if you'll have me.

[personal profile] facemyenemys 2015-08-10 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
[She kissed him back, grinning in it a moment later, almost bubbling over with a giggle. It's such a strange idea, and she doesn't even care if it happens or not, bu the thought of it, that he would ask, was amazing.]

Good. I like the idea. [Not that she had a 'life' anymore. But that didn't matter here. Here she was Kara and not Agent 33 or anything weird like that. Just Kara. Perhaps Kara Ward.]

I'm so glad they brought you here with me. I was worried you wouldn't come if they did call. Worried you'd be too angry to want to help someone else. I am so glad you are here with me.

[She kissed him again, long and hard with passion, before breaking it again with a grin.] I love you too. I'm going to do everything in my power to keep you.

[personal profile] facemyenemys 2015-08-10 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
[She shifts, replacing his books with herself instead. In other words, she's sitting in his lap, though she does reach to move his book to the side carefully, stacking it on top of her small tumbled pile.]

[She smiles and curls up into him, holding herself to him]
If we're doing this it will be Mrs. Kara Ward. I'm a traditionalist in these things. If I'm going to have you as my own I will have your name as well.

And I know you will try hard. You're already doing great. You opened up to people today. And I see you found good book.

[She shifted to curl in closer to him, leaning her head into his shoulder and sighing softly with a smile.]

There aren't any explorers anymore. Not really. But here you can be. Find a place and go explore it. Or at least explore the library itself. Who knows when the last time a human stepped in some section of the library somewhere.

[She hmmmed softly, nuzzling in on his neck a bit and closing her eyes.] I don't think I would have been cut out for cocktail parties and senator wives anyhow. I didn't grow up that way as it was.

[He asked about her mom, making her raise her brows, than smile sadly. Unless she got brought here, she’ll never get to see her mom again. She kind of liked her mom, a lot.]

She’s friendly, but stern. She would want to test you, to see if you were good enough for me. Small hidden questions and feeding you things. I think she would have liked you.

[personal profile] facemyenemys 2015-08-25 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
[She grins at that, leaning into the hand to her hair and closing her eyes.] Someday, yes. I think she would be happy to see me try and settle down. [her smile faded just a bit. Well, she would have been happy to know.]

[Her heart felt heavy now]
You sent me back home to my mother, you said, right? How... did she take it? Did you speak to her?

How..exactly would one go about turning magic off? Is that something you are familiar with where you come from?

[Because he's not sure if you're serious about that, Grant, and the idea of it is just strange to him.

Magic doesn't just turn off. Nor do books. Right?]

This world of yours sounds like something very strange.

[The Cat use one of the bookmarks but the devices really aren't feline-friendly so when he hears Ward's question, he decides to answer in person. Or in cat, depending on a being's definition of 'person'.

Letting out a trilling 'merp' to announce his presence, he pads toward the man, making sure to give Ward enough time to realize that he's someone familiar.]

The books you asked about are safe for you to read. It takes more than just opening them for something to escape.

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-08 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
If one of them looks unusual, it's best to ask us. Some of them are unstable and those might cause problems. Ones that are undamaged are safe but your imagination may seem more vivid while you read.

[An interesting quirk to the Library but one that isn't dangerous for the patrons.

Sauntering closer, the Cat looks up at Ward, purring thoughtfully.]

The Library's reality is not the same as the one that you left behind. [Which isn't quite an answer but what fun is there in giving information directly?] You were meant to find that copy and it was meant to be yours.
enlightenedfeline: (Adorable Inspiration)

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-10 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is yours. You may keep it permanently, if you wish. There is another copy of that book in the Library so there is no repercussions if it remains in your care.
enlightenedfeline: (Superstition)

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-13 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
You're welcome.

[For a few moments, he's silent, considering whether he should make that sort of threat. Ward hadn't demanded and he didn't expect him to say yes, so of course he had to.

Cats are supposed to be contrary, even ones who aren't quite feline.]

If you wish to pet me, you may.
enlightenedfeline: (Adorable Inspiration)

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-13 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
[The Cat lets out a faint hum of approval that becomes a low, steady purr.]

A dog?

[Despite Ward finding the right spot on his ear, the Cat wrinkles his nose. How could something that drools so much be an ideal pet?]

It will be a small measure of time before we can bring them into the Library but there is no reason why a well mannered pet could not stay here.
enlightenedfeline: (Adorable Inspiration)

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-13 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
If he will behave then he could be in the Library.

[He really wouldn't mind a dog as long as it didn't try to eat the books or chase him. It would be difficult to look respectable while trying to evade a dog.

The purr faltered for a moment before he moved his head slightly so that the scritches were focused on another spot.]

We would never stop anyone from marrying if that is what they wished. We want our patrons to be happy. What would you need for a wedding?

enlightenedfeline: (Superstition)

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-13 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I will help as best I can. I know the facts about weddings but for each couple it is different. I'm sure that there are others here who would be willing to help.

[Cacti weren't something that the Cat had assumed were part of marriage ceremonies but human traditions were strange to him.]

There are cactus in Non-Fiction that could be part of the ceremony.

If there isn't a specific type of holy person that you need, the Head Librarian might be persuaded to perform the ceremony.

[Yes, that would be good for his friend. Something positive to look forward to instead of constantly draining his energy for the Library.]

Actually I think he would be honored if you asked.

And he enjoys helping our patrons. This would be something he would appreciate.

[His tail curled thoughtfully as he analyzed this tricky group of data.]

Ward, I cannot promise that terrible things won't happen here. This place can be dangerous and no matter how much the Head Librarian and I try to protect our patrons, someone may be hurt. But it is temporary.

Death does not work the same here as it does other places. Even when it visits it is not permanent unless one wishes it to be.

[Some may want to find the peace of the Afterlife and no Librarian would interfere with that.]

SHIELD and HYDRA mean nothing inside the Library. It is our patrons intentions that matter.
enlightenedfeline: (Superstition)

[personal profile] enlightenedfeline 2015-08-15 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
That depends on what the patrons wish. Even when the Library is fixed we will need help maintaining it or it will fall into disrepair again.
