[Ward isn't making himself known without good reason. His device is on and there's a grim sort of looking man. He's been sticking close to Kara and thinking about what Tony said. He's got a book under his hands and he sits.]
So we're in a library. I was wondering. What's your favorite book?
I found a couple of mine. You know, when I was a kid. [He nods at them] Treasure island for one. Jim Hawkins was always kind of my hero when I was a kid.
[He reaches for another] I've got 100 years of solitude too. And the Giver.
I'd really like to read them but I don't want to open them and accidentally unleash Long John Silver or anything like that. Is there...a way to turn them off?

[action]
Mmm, that's a good question. I hadn't really thought about it before.
[She said in a whisper tone, as she knows he's on his bookmark. She smiled though, her scarred face pulling a bit as she did.] I'd hate to have a flying monkey come out of my favorite book.
Re: [action]
I hope we can read them. I remember exactly where I put these but I... [he traces the cover] I missed them. They remind me of - of gramsy.
[Emotion clenches his chest and he moves to slide an arm around her shoulders.] Does the Wizard of Oz remind you of anything?
no subject
[She stared at him with that smile. Why was he so perfect. Then she ducked her head and shrugged a single shoulder, looking down to the books now in her lap.] It's the first book mom read to me. And I loved the movie as a kid.
no subject
[He took her hand across the books.] Kara can I ask you something? Something I've been thinking about since coming here?
...You wouldn't ever want to leave me right? I don't want to leave you ever - I was thinking that ...you know we might do what couples do in those circumstances.
Where they never want to leave one another.
no subject
[but as he took her hand and talked about if she would leave or not she raised a brow.] I never wanted to leave in the first place. [But she did. But she came here so...] And I wouldn't even want to think about it now.
[What was he getting at? What did other couples do? Her eyes watched his as he talked]
no subject
...Someday maybe. [his voice is quick.] I would have. I mean, eventually when we had the money and a house again I...
[He starts massaging her fingers.] But I was talking to Tony Stark and he made me think about it.
no subject
[There was a odd sort of soft smile on her lips now, looking at him a bit amazed.]
You. Talked to Tony Stark. About commitment and marriage? [Do you know how odd that sounds? She doesn't even know Stark other than news, tabloid news and SHIELD/HYDRA files...]

When I was a kid I always sort of dreamed of a big wedding like gramsy and pop had. I mean - guys don't think about it but gramsy used to show me photos. I think maybe that's why I associated with it. It was a nice memory.
They looked...happy.
It doesn't have to be fancy, or soon, but I want...I mean you deserve more then just me. You deserve to be honored. In a pretty dress with flowers and everybody...celebrating us.
no subject
[but he was talking about weddings and his gramsy and pop and nice memories and celebrating them and.... she looked surprised still. She didn't comment on all that yet. Instead she shifted, turning a bit where she sat, and letting him keep her hand she looked up at him with her head tilted and an unsure look on her ace]
Wait, are you possibly proposing to me right now? I mean, if that something you are considering?
no subject
He'd killed people, a lot of people, taken revenge and the thought of missing out on something like this made his heart clench. All he'd wanted in life was Kara a partner in crime, but without her his life had no meaning. He had nothing, and it was all his fault.]
...Sorry I don't have any rings.
[He stared at her hands.] Stark said he'd make some, I told him to shove off but I could go back to him. I -
[He swallowed.] Kara you said I made you a better woman, but it was the same for me, you made me a better man. And you helped me, the same way you said I helped you. The day you found your face was one of the happiest days of my life.
[It had been manipulation and horror and pride, a small fire of pride that had grown into something more.]
We don't - have to get married now, or right away, but we deserve this. There's no SHIELD here and I want this and -
[He exhaled.] but if you don't, I really do understand. The fact that you're here with me, even after all the things I've done...that's what matters.
[His hands shake] I feel like I've got butterflies in my chest. Will you marry me? One day?
no subject
[As he said it though. Will she marry him, she beamed, pulling herself up closer to him, books tumbling out of her lap as she pulled her hands free only to fling them around his neck. She embraced him tightly in a hug, kissing the side of his face, his cheek, and grinning as she pressed another hard kiss to his jaw]
Yes! [Simple as that. yes. Yes she would marry him. It might just be in this place, and it might only last as long as he was here, but it was good enough to her. Even if it never happened, she was happy at this point in time.] Some day, what ever day that might be. It doesn't matter to me. But yes, I will marry you, if you'll have me.
no subject
Just before he holds her against him.]
I'll have you for the rest of our lives.
[He stroked her face as gently as I could.] We're gonna save the library and then who knows? But I'm with you forever.
[The ice thaws.] ...I love you so much.
no subject
Good. I like the idea. [Not that she had a 'life' anymore. But that didn't matter here. Here she was Kara and not Agent 33 or anything weird like that. Just Kara. Perhaps Kara Ward.]
I'm so glad they brought you here with me. I was worried you wouldn't come if they did call. Worried you'd be too angry to want to help someone else. I am so glad you are here with me.
[She kissed him again, long and hard with passion, before breaking it again with a grin.] I love you too. I'm going to do everything in my power to keep you.
no subject
[His voice is teasing. He traces one cheek with his thumb and leans his head against her shoulder. He kisses her cheek.] Mrs. Ward-Palamas?
[He traces her fingers then kisses each one of her knuckles.] You can't get rid of me baby.
...I'll try. I'll try really hard to help baby. I want to.
no subject
[She smiles and curls up into him, holding herself to him] If we're doing this it will be Mrs. Kara Ward. I'm a traditionalist in these things. If I'm going to have you as my own I will have your name as well.
And I know you will try hard. You're already doing great. You opened up to people today. And I see you found good book.
no subject
[He's suddenly shy, holding her against him.] You know it won't be like that right? No fancy cocktail parties and ...senator wives?
no subject
There aren't any explorers anymore. Not really. But here you can be. Find a place and go explore it. Or at least explore the library itself. Who knows when the last time a human stepped in some section of the library somewhere.
[She hmmmed softly, nuzzling in on his neck a bit and closing her eyes.] I don't think I would have been cut out for cocktail parties and senator wives anyhow. I didn't grow up that way as it was.
no subject
[He can't stop playing with her hands, her fingers, gently running his own over them.]
Your mom.
no subject
She’s friendly, but stern. She would want to test you, to see if you were good enough for me. Small hidden questions and feeding you things. I think she would have liked you.
no subject
...I'd be worthy.
...would she be happy if you were married?
no subject
[Her heart felt heavy now] You sent me back home to my mother, you said, right? How... did she take it? Did you speak to her?
[Because he's not sure if you're serious about that, Grant, and the idea of it is just strange to him.
Magic doesn't just turn off. Nor do books. Right?]
Re: [Video] SORRY THIS IS LATE - post Kara.
[Says the dwarf that comes from a land with dragons, orcs, mountain trolls, and wargs.]

Letting out a trilling 'merp' to announce his presence, he pads toward the man, making sure to give Ward enough time to realize that he's someone familiar.]
The books you asked about are safe for you to read. It takes more than just opening them for something to escape.
no subject
That's good to know.
....I'd swear this is my grandmother's copy, it feels just like it.
no subject
[An interesting quirk to the Library but one that isn't dangerous for the patrons.
Sauntering closer, the Cat looks up at Ward, purring thoughtfully.]
The Library's reality is not the same as the one that you left behind. [Which isn't quite an answer but what fun is there in giving information directly?] You were meant to find that copy and it was meant to be yours.
no subject
[He traces over the cover] I can - what? Keep it? Return it when I' mdone with it?
no subject
no subject
...Thanks.
...This'd be the part where I'd try to pet you but you'd probably turn me into a toad or something.
no subject
[For a few moments, he's silent, considering whether he should make that sort of threat. Ward hadn't demanded and he didn't expect him to say yes, so of course he had to.
Cats are supposed to be contrary, even ones who aren't quite feline.]
If you wish to pet me, you may.
no subject
....If I wanted to get my fiancee a pet somehow....if we promised to keep it and train it. Like a dog.
Could we?
no subject
A dog?
[Despite Ward finding the right spot on his ear, the Cat wrinkles his nose. How could something that drools so much be an ideal pet?]
It will be a small measure of time before we can bring them into the Library but there is no reason why a well mannered pet could not stay here.
no subject
[Silence. Touching an animal again felt good.] Kara would like something too.
That's another thing I want to ask you about. I want to marry her. She's -
[Dead, back home. Still though.]
no subject
[He really wouldn't mind a dog as long as it didn't try to eat the books or chase him. It would be difficult to look respectable while trying to evade a dog.
The purr faltered for a moment before he moved his head slightly so that the scritches were focused on another spot.]
We would never stop anyone from marrying if that is what they wished. We want our patrons to be happy. What would you need for a wedding?
no subject
Her to be happy.
Cactuses. Presents. Someone to marry us.
no subject
[Cacti weren't something that the Cat had assumed were part of marriage ceremonies but human traditions were strange to him.]
There are cactus in Non-Fiction that could be part of the ceremony.
If there isn't a specific type of holy person that you need, the Head Librarian might be persuaded to perform the ceremony.
[Yes, that would be good for his friend. Something positive to look forward to instead of constantly draining his energy for the Library.]
Actually I think he would be honored if you asked.
no subject
It doesn't...It doesn't have to be right away but...we've been - she died. And...
[He breathes deep] SHIELD killed her.
no subject
[His tail curled thoughtfully as he analyzed this tricky group of data.]
Ward, I cannot promise that terrible things won't happen here. This place can be dangerous and no matter how much the Head Librarian and I try to protect our patrons, someone may be hurt. But it is temporary.
Death does not work the same here as it does other places. Even when it visits it is not permanent unless one wishes it to be.
[Some may want to find the peace of the Afterlife and no Librarian would interfere with that.]
SHIELD and HYDRA mean nothing inside the Library. It is our patrons intentions that matter.
no subject
And what happens when the library's fixed?
[What happens to her?]
no subject
