Seems like this is the trend today, so I wanted to make a post.

For those who haven't met me yet, I'm Sunset Shimmer and my thing is sort of a mix of Music, Friendship-themed stories, Magic stories and Unicorns.

I know, pretty girlish, but there's reasons behind everything. And yes, just to answer, people in my world are very colorful, so if you run into people with literal colors of the rainbow as their skin and hair, then you've probably run into one of my friends from home.

I can't thank Trunks more than what I've said to him, but thanks again for helping me out in the previous World we were in. That was not my cup of tea let me tell you.

[Sunset pauses to think of something and then adds,] If we ever get to my World or a place called Equestria, or if a book is located with those names regarding ponies with cutie marks on their flanks, please let me know immediately. I've yet to find anything, but I figure its buried in the Children's section somewhere.

[That gets a small smile, and maybe a hint of red on his face although he is ignoring that. Including turning his head a bit to the side.]

I'm kind of used to going solo, and having to survive it.

[Then again, she'd seen some of his memories--she likely understood that.]

So has the animosity died down? At your home? Still wanna be a princess?

Yeah I get that.

Yes, yes and no. I don't feel like I need to be a princess to be with my friends.

[The smile widens a bit, as the blush has faded as he looks back at her.]

I kind of always thought "friends" would like you for who you are, not because of a title. I'm glad it's easier for you now.

[There's a pause, and then he's thinking back over what she'd told him.]

Does everyone in your world have powers like you?

Well, it wasn't like my friends knew of my main ambition until we became friends, and then things just sort of faded into the background.

[She grinned a little, tilting her head.]

Mmm, not really? It's a special case where I came from.

Not really, huh. Is it because you came from another world to begin with?

Yeah, my world was/is a lot more magical than the one I live in now. It's just really different but there's similar people. Not the same people, just similar.

Equestria, right?

[Thinking back over the conversation, and his expression is amusing as he does so, considering the confusion.]

Okay, I have to ask considering you mentioned 'flanks'...are horses worshipped or something there? also, what's a cutie-mark?

Equestria.

Well um... don't look at me weird but Equestria is a land of ponies. Unicorns, Earth Ponies and Pegasi.

And a cutie mark is something you obtain when you find a calling in life. It can be something direct, or something alluding to interests.

[Not laughing. Just...looking very confused, his head-tilting for a moment as he thinks about that. Then brings a thumb up to chew on it while he's thinking.]

What's the difference between a pony, and a small horse? Also why are they called Earth Ponies?

[Dealing with that first, before he tries to figure out that cutie-mark stuff.]

A pony is sentient, they talk, they dance, they sing. And Earth Ponies are one of the three indigenous tribes of magical beings on Equestria. They're farmers, workers, stronger and tougher, but they're also musicians, surgeons and other professions.

Okay so...basically it's a land of little horses. 3 different tribes---unicorns have the horn right, and pegasusses...what's a pegasus?

[Because that's a new term to him.]

"Earth pony" then, means they're more associated with the daily life and ground. So "Earth" as in terra-firma, the ground, huh?

[Hey, he's not laughing and is taking this seriously, at least.]

Pegasi are winged ponies. They fly around and manage the weather with their own natural affinity for speed, weather magic and the like.

Earth Pony is kind of like that, but that's the surface of it. Earth Ponies have impressive stamina, builds and are overall stronger than the other two tribes, and they have a high affinity for natural magic such as potions and cultivation.

[Okay, so...he sort of got it.]

Alright, so what's a unicorn's affinity? What other races are there, if ponies are dominant?

Unicorns have magic potential of different sorts. The study of music is part of a unicorns major studies, learning how to levitate things amongst other things.

There's also dragons, diamond dogs, cats, dogs, cows, sheep...

[There's an eyebrow raise, and a hint of grin as he asks his next question.]

No humans though, I'm hearing.

[They do say turn-about is fair-play. Still..]

Forgive me if I sound rude also, but what were you?

No humans. Humans aren't a thing where I come from.

[There's a sheepish grin.]

I was a unicorn, student to Princess Celestia.

[Trunks gives a shrug, even if it's a bit surprising.]

I could see that, from what you've told me. Besides, I'm half-alien. Who am to judge?

[Definitely a grin though.]

So that means if we go to your world, we'd be changed in shape huh?

Yeah, most likely. I don't know if it's an effect of passing into our world, or through the mirror portal, but I'd imagine you'd turn into a pony or another race.

[There is definitely surprise on his face at that, before he recovers.]

Huh. With my luck, I'd be a hybrid there too.

[Back to an earlier topic though...]

Why are they called 'cutie-marks'? How do you know it relates to your calling, or interests?

Maybe. I've never really seen hybrids before back home.

Cutie Marks are basically part symbolism and part calling. Like, it can be something you like, like making candy and getting a symbol of sweets, or music like a record or something. Sometimes it can be more obscure such as having stars or gems.

Seriously, so why the name?

[Because just...'cutie' mark? Seriously?]

So, what would be the point of the obscure ones?

Hey, you don't see me making fun of names from your world, right? But it's just what it is. It's always been known as a Cutie Mark.

As for the obscure ones, it's up to the pony to interpret its meaning.

[Fair enough.]

Sounds way more complicated than it needs to be, to me. Lemme know if you wanna try exploring to find your world's book or something. If nothing else, I can watch your back.
