[Video Post 001] Bookish Bat
[Okay, she totally felt as though she came off as a giant nerd around the Head Librarian, but that was okay. She usually tended to come off as kind of nerdy anyway. Even in Burnside, though everyone around her was all kinds of fiercely intelligent, Barbara had those moments where she felt like she was just a little bit out of place. Here, though, in the library? She was completely at home.
Even if the place was all kinds of bonkers.
She hadn't opened any books yet, mostly to heed what the Head Librarian had said about them not being what they seemed to be.
She looks down at the gold, stylized bat in her hand. It so closely resembles the emblem emblazoned across her chest and smiles. Even the Library knows how the Batfamily likes their accessories. After a moment, Barbara sets it to broadcast. She checks to make sure that her cowl is still on - of course it is - before speaking.]
So. How's everyone doing? In terms of acclimating? Anyone had any interesting adventures with any books yet? Because there's a few that look interesting, but I'm not sure what would happen if I open them. I'm kind of expecting the books on animals to...act like animals.
If that makes sense.
I'm Batgirl, by the way.
Hi.

Hi.
Hello, miss.
[It probably should be 'Ms.' but sometimes Steve reverts back to the manners he'd been taught decades ago.]
I'm Steve Rogers. Captain America when I'm in this uniform. I've had a couple adventures with them. One was weather related and the other...
[Pausing, he almost looks sheepish.]
I'm not quite sure what I saw out there.
Re: [Video]
Captain...[She blinks for a moment. He's kin, of the costumed variety. Obviously. The red, white, and blue, for one thing. He almost reminds her of...] Super. That's just super. It's great to meet you, Captain.
What...wait.
Like a storm came out of the book?
It's a pleasure to meet you too, Batgirl.
According to the Cat, the storm came from the book. We had to find it and close it for the monsoon to stop.

This is why technology doesn't scare me as much as books do, sometimes. Technology, there's always an off-switch.
Books can mean magic, and that's more chaotic. [One of the few reasons she's glad that she's Batgirl and not, say, Wonder Woman.]

[At least that was the easiest way for him to understand some of the strange things he'd seen over the years.]
From what the Librarians have said, there are rules to this place. We just don't know them yet.

[Barry gives a little wave.]
Hi I'm Barry Allen.
no subject
Come across anything interesting.
[There's a short pause. She knows that name, of course. Having read it in Batman's casefiles.]
You look younger than I expected.
no subject
Lots of dust....and cobwebs. Nothing too dangerous yet though.
[Barry looks confused. As far as he knows he's never met this woman before and yet it sounds like they might have.]
I do? Have we met before?
no subject
Not as such, no. I've just heard of you. From a mutual friend. [Though if the cowl wasn't a giveaway, Barbara had to wonder where this Barry was from.]
no subject
Okay...I think I might have remembered a friend of mine who dressed like that and sadly I don't. I think you might know another me...timelines are funny like that.
[Unless they tried to eat people.]
..Batgirl?
Re: [Video]
Girl comma bat.
Except not because it's one word.
[She smiles brightly. If she thinks the name's insane, it doesn't show. It's par for the course where she's from.]
It's not my real name.
[Okay seriously though. This girl sounds like something out of a comic book.
Or a geek that's taking things way too far.]
Ah..it's..good to meet you, I guess? I'm Owen.
no subject
Meet the girl behind the cowl.
[She's going to be explaining that to a lot of people, isn't she?]
no subject
[That's how it went in the movies, after all.]
Well, Hello there.... that is to say hi!
[He made to wave and then dropped the books he was carrying ]
This place is so cool!
Re: [video]
This place is pretty...well, it's not where I expected to wake up, but I definitely don't hate it.
I'm just really weirded out, you know?
Video
Is this a joke? Something vampire-esque...? Because I'm not sure the cowl with bat ears works for you. Your features would be complimented more with something else flattering to your facial structure, I'm sure.
[The mildest of a smirk pulls at his lips at that.]
The books themselves do not feel like 'animals' as you put it. They feel more like a shell. Not that it makes much sense... are you magically inclined?
[Though, her proclamation of her 'name' explained the get up. He has read comics for Batman, but he didn't feel that appropriate to bring up.]
Magnus Bane. A pleasure.
no subject
Pleasure's all mine, Mr. Bane.
Honestly, I once wore a domino mask, but this is more protective. It also hides the identity better. How Dad never figured out who I am, I don't know.
I only know about magic from a textbook perspective, and even then, it's only stuff I've read about from some magicians back home. Nothing hands on, I'm sorry to say.
no subject
Yes, that would make sense. Secret identities are hard to keep if too much of the face is seen. It will likely be pretty hard being in a place where your secret identity will be your primary identity now... I am sorry for that.
[He could sympathize with that. Always never letting yourself out would be quite hard on her...]
I see. My magic is down to parlor tricks, but I used to be quite powerful. It's a bit irritating. Even still... I can feel the... difference here. If that makes sense. Not so much anything specific, but that there is a lot going on under the surface.
