Seems like this is the trend today, so I wanted to make a post.

For those who haven't met me yet, I'm Sunset Shimmer and my thing is sort of a mix of Music, Friendship-themed stories, Magic stories and Unicorns.

I know, pretty girlish, but there's reasons behind everything. And yes, just to answer, people in my world are very colorful, so if you run into people with literal colors of the rainbow as their skin and hair, then you've probably run into one of my friends from home.

I can't thank Trunks more than what I've said to him, but thanks again for helping me out in the previous World we were in. That was not my cup of tea let me tell you.

[Sunset pauses to think of something and then adds,] If we ever get to my World or a place called Equestria, or if a book is located with those names regarding ponies with cutie marks on their flanks, please let me know immediately. I've yet to find anything, but I figure its buried in the Children's section somewhere.

[The feeds going to change, as Trunks is obviously fiddling with his bookmark. But it's not hard to figure out, really. He's sitting on a bed in one of the dorm rooms, legs crossed and without the jacket and sword. Placing the bookmark up on the desk by him, so he doesn't have to hold it.]

Yeah, you mentioned something about that before.

[There's a shrug, and his manner remains friendly still.]

No judgement there, and I think you're wrong. You felt my rage.

Mmm, I dunno. I've experienced similar emotions. I'm in no place to judge.

[Because Sunset would carry her guilt as long as she felt like she couldn't look at Celestia.]

Like I said, no judgement. Not from me.

[A shrug, and sigh, and he's raking a hand through his bangs before leaning forward enough to rest his elbows on his legs.]

The...state I went into. Honestly, if you could've handled it and it wouldn't have broken things, I think we could've shut down that abyss.

Yeah, but honestly I get this feeling that it wasn't our place to do it. You know? It's not our story.

Everyone's got a story to make, and it's not ours.

[A pause though, and he feels like she needs to know. She already knew more about him than anyone else, just by seeing his memories.]

So...that state. I'm half-alien, a race known as saiyan to be precise. Where I'm from they're extinct, except for me. Well--when I'm from--it's complicated. But basically that state is an advanced state for a saiyan--it was thought to be only a myth, a legend, until it was achieved about 20 years ago from my time. It's achieved by a great need accompanied by emotional trauma, at least the first time.

After that, it's accessed at will, provided you have the energy reserves for it, and it's...

[Looking down, trying to think of how to put it in words.]

It's a state fueled by rage, but it's a controlled burn. It's not all-consuming and overwhelming, the way it is the first time you achieve it. But you still feel that fury and rage.

So your people get stronger through emotional and physical pain, is that it? That's quite a way to live...

[It must be hard, having to bottle up all that anger all the time.]

I'm half-human, and...I don't know much about my saiyan heritage, to be honest. Most of what I know, Mom told me, and she only found out because her best friend, and my Father, were saiyans. Even then, they didn't know Goku--that's her friend--was an alien until he was married and with a kid. That's when his brother came to Earth, to destroy it.

[There's a sigh, Trunks trying to remember what he did know.]

Saiyans were a warrior race, from a planet that had 10x Earth's base gravity. Most of their existence they were not-quite-slaves to a galactic warlord known as Frieza. He'd send them to a planet to wipe out the life, and then once it was depopuplated, Frieza'd sell the real-estate. But what doesn't kill a saiyan, if they have enough time to heal, will only make them stronger.

[There's a far-away look in his eyes, and he's clearly remembering both words told to him by others, and his own impressions from meeting the few others with his heritage he knew.]

Apparently though, Frieza feared that, and destroyed the planet Vegeta, so only off-world Saiyans survived. There weren't many of them though. Goku had been originally sent to Earth as a baby, to do the usual destroy-and-wipe-out thing, but a bonk to his head gave him amnesia. Mom met him when she was 16, and they went on adventures hunting for the Dragon Balls. He was like...10? I think?

Anyways, in his 20s, his brother shows up to find out what happened and why Earth was still running wild with humans. That's when everyone found out Goku hadn't just been a really strong human.

Wow, that's quite the story.

[She felt like it wasn't all of it, and Trunks would prove her right or wrong, but it felt like a incredible set up. She knew how being an outsider felt, considering the several incidents that followed her reformation; being ostracized for a while, and the Anon-A-Miss incident...]

Your father, he's a full Saiyan?

He was. One of only 2 full-ones left, by the time I was born.

[Another hand raked through his bangs while he paused.]

Apparently Raditz showed up, and tried to kidnap Gohan. Goku and a few of the others fought him, and Goku died--taking Raditz with him. But two other Saiyans were on their way, since Earth was overdue for its depopulation. Piccolo determined that Gohan needed training, and took that up. Everyone else worked hard, preparing for the arrival of Prince Vegeta and Nappa. Battles ensued, and eventually they were Nappa was killed, at great cost, taking Piccolo with him. With Piccolo gone, the Dragon Balls were gone to, so no one could be wished back to life.

Goku'd meanwhile been training in the afterlife, and had been wished back before this thankfully. He was able to take out Nappa, and then Vegeta faced him himself. Eventually, especially with the aid of Goku's friend Krillin, and his own son Gohan, they were able to beat him. Goku spared his life, and he was allowed to leave Earth. It also came out during this time, that Piccolo's home planet, Namek, would have Dragon Balls. Since they came to Earth when Piccolo did--Namekian's make them.

I've seen a lot of things in my life, sirens, rainbow lasers, unicorns and all sorts of things but your world sounds a lot tougher than mine. Relatively speaking. Sure there's things that want to hurt our world, but its usually resolved quickly.

Yeah, our problems...don't really get resolved quickly. This was all still about 10-15 years or so before I was born. It doesn't get that much better.

[There's a hint of frown, and a sigh.]

Rainbow lasers? I need to hear more about this. I can also continue, if you want.

Well lets see, you told me a lot about your world, let me tell you about mine. Trade off, let yourself rest your voice for a bit.

In another world, there is a land of magic and friendship called Equestria. It is ruled by the sun monarch, Princess Celestia who rises and lowers the sun and moon. And I... was her student.

[This still hurt to talk about to be honest, but Sunset felt she needed to talk about it.]

I was young, brash and impulsive. But I was the best student she had in ages. But soon, I grew callous and cold, refusing to make friends and picking on those who wouldn't follow my lead. I became worse than a bully. Then, one day, Princess Celestia showed me this magic mirror, and I saw in it a dark princess, myself. I wanted to become a princess so bad, it drove a wedge between me and my mentor. So, after the final straw was broke and angry words drove a wedge between us, I escaped. I subdued the guards, and pushed through the Mirror in an attempt to flee, and I arrived in a parallel world. My home.

This home is everything I wanted, a place to start over, but to eventually gather the strength to rule. So I entered the school closest to the portal by falsifying my way in while simultaneously living in the school in secret.

[Trunks is good at listening, and he gets this is probably hard to talk about.]

I'd say being a princess is over-rated, just like being a prince, but I'm guessing they're 'special' in Equestria, huh? What happened in the school? You don't seem the bully type now, from what I saw.

Being a princess is pretty special back where I came from. It was a sign of rule, but also a nobility status that was irreplaceable. It got to my head.

Being in the school, I carefully worked my way into manipulating the school against one another, broke trusts and stuff. I hurt a lot of people who I can call friends now, and sometimes I wonder how we got through the first few fragile weeks after she came.

Princess Twilight, from the world I came from chased me into the school world, after I had stolen a powerful magic artifact called the Element of Harmony. I wanted to use it to enslave the school and the world and invade. That would show people, y'know?

Obviously it didn't go according to plan, being foiled at every turn and when I got the crown and put it on, it transformed me into a she-demon. Flame hair, red skin, bat wings, all of it. I used that power to mind control the student body, and was prepared to march into Equestria and take it over.

That's when Twilight defeated me, hit me with a rainbow laser made of pure friendship thanks to the bonds she rekindled between people I ruined friendships of. The strongest power in Equestria freed my mind of the hate, and left me a bit of a shell for a while. I had a long, hard road to learn how to cope with what I did. For the longest time, the students didn't see me as reformed, just the girl who almost destroyed everything. Again.

[Trunks winced in sympathy, as it was clear how much she regret it. He's quiet for a bit before speaking.]

My mother, was Goku's best friend. They'd been friends since she was 16, and he was 10. From all I've heard, I believe that she feels his greatest strength isn't that he was the greatest defender Earth has ever known. His greatest strength, is also his biggest weakness--that he'll forgive. He'll give you chance, after chance. Even to people who don't seem to deserve it, and certainly don't want it.

[Like his father; come to Earth on an extermination mission, get beaten soundly. Flee to another planet, get humiliated and die there, and then wished back to a planet you hated having failed to achieve your dream. This was part of why Trunks wanted to understand, to know his father more. The man he'd glimpsed both was, and wasn't who his Mother had told him about.]

I'm not used to having friends...given I've grown up in a world where you could die, easily, at the whim of some psychotic humanoid-machine. Gohan, when he was older, was the closest I've had. He saved me, taught me...

[Not sure what else to say, or how. Except he got it--as much as he could considering their backgrounds were so different. He believed in redemption, and Sunset Shimmer didn't seem like a bad person to him.]

I know I was glad to have you with me, in the village. You could've left me behind, and I wouldn't have blamed you.

Yeah I couldn't do that. I mean, even if I wasn't invited along I would have worried about you all the same. I'm just that kind of person after all.

[Now she is, but she smiled comfortingly, adding,] Besides, you're a pretty good guy anyhow.

[That gets a small smile, and maybe a hint of red on his face although he is ignoring that. Including turning his head a bit to the side.]

I'm kind of used to going solo, and having to survive it.

[Then again, she'd seen some of his memories--she likely understood that.]

So has the animosity died down? At your home? Still wanna be a princess?

Yeah I get that.

Yes, yes and no. I don't feel like I need to be a princess to be with my friends.

[The smile widens a bit, as the blush has faded as he looks back at her.]

I kind of always thought "friends" would like you for who you are, not because of a title. I'm glad it's easier for you now.

[There's a pause, and then he's thinking back over what she'd told him.]

Does everyone in your world have powers like you?

Well, it wasn't like my friends knew of my main ambition until we became friends, and then things just sort of faded into the background.

[She grinned a little, tilting her head.]

Mmm, not really? It's a special case where I came from.

Not really, huh. Is it because you came from another world to begin with?

Yeah, my world was/is a lot more magical than the one I live in now. It's just really different but there's similar people. Not the same people, just similar.

Equestria, right?

[Thinking back over the conversation, and his expression is amusing as he does so, considering the confusion.]

Okay, I have to ask considering you mentioned 'flanks'...are horses worshipped or something there? also, what's a cutie-mark?

Equestria.

Well um... don't look at me weird but Equestria is a land of ponies. Unicorns, Earth Ponies and Pegasi.

And a cutie mark is something you obtain when you find a calling in life. It can be something direct, or something alluding to interests.

[Not laughing. Just...looking very confused, his head-tilting for a moment as he thinks about that. Then brings a thumb up to chew on it while he's thinking.]

What's the difference between a pony, and a small horse? Also why are they called Earth Ponies?

[Dealing with that first, before he tries to figure out that cutie-mark stuff.]
